Check out my friend's Flickr photoset:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/meladegypsie/sets/72157600334459764/

She didn't complete the 365 days (I think), but she still managed to do a massive amount of really interesting pictures! They might give you some ideas.

An interesting project and one I will endeavour to take up, too (not the thirty bit - way past that :-)). Your backyard an neighbourhood over many opportunities. We are blessed/cursed - depends on how you look at it - with a good cross-section of birds. They provide many daily chances to capture something colourful or interesting. Plants are sparse due to water restrictions, but a few hardy specimens bloom despite that and provide captures. Take your camera with you to work, play or just out and about. Inanimate objects are abundant in our daily lives and they can make images interesting. Oh, and then there is yourself. Miss a daily image? Capture yourself going about your daily routine :-). Let's get to it!

Quick thoughts:
doors, old ones, new ones, interesting ones
gates (just love old garden gates)
those lovely bats at dusk. not sure what technique but sounds complicated
flea markets
campfires
B&W landscapes (ansel adamsish stuff)
anything fast motion
stained glass windows (very hard to shoot properly)

I'm just going to idea dump

Find a free music festival, photograph some bands
Botanic Gardens
Go to a sailing regatta
Do some portrait shots of Rose, cause she is so damn photogenic.
The Gothic building in the CBD when the spring storms come rolling in.
