Wanted: Ideas for the 365 Before Thirty Project
Anyone who has done a photo-a-day or 365 photos project knows that it can be a hard slog and you start to run out of ideas after a while. I’m determined to avoid this in the 365 Before Thirty project so I’m looking to enlist some help. I’m 11 days in with another 354 to go so there’s plenty of room for suggestions. I’m looking for ideas on:
- Techniques
- Locations
- Objects
- Themes
- Hell anything else you can think of
I was originally going to slap a whole bunch of caveats on this to cover my situation but I realised this was a really stupid idea. A lot can happen in a year so I am open to every suggestion, not to mention I think a lot of people looking for inspiration would like it as well. So oh mighty hive mind of the interwebs let the ideas flow!
Leave a comment on here, hit me up on twitter or just drop a suggestion into twitter with the hashtag #photo365ideas – I’m pulling an RSS feed for this search and will hopefully push the ideas out to others. Any photos taken using ideas from suggestions will have credit given to the suggester.
8/9/2009 Update – Big hello to Lifehacker AU readers – thanks for dropping by and feel free to look around.
New project page created to record the suggestions – 365 Ideas

I’m just going to idea dump
Find a free music festival, photograph some bands
Botanic Gardens
Go to a sailing regatta
Do some portrait shots of Rose, cause she is so damn photogenic.
The Gothic building in the CBD when the spring storms come rolling in.
Quick thoughts:
doors, old ones, new ones, interesting ones
gates (just love old garden gates)
those lovely bats at dusk. not sure what technique but sounds complicated
flea markets
campfires
B&W landscapes (ansel adamsish stuff)
anything fast motion
stained glass windows (very hard to shoot properly)
An interesting project and one I will endeavour to take up, too (not the thirty bit – way past that :-)). Your backyard an neighbourhood over many opportunities. We are blessed/cursed – depends on how you look at it – with a good cross-section of birds. They provide many daily chances to capture something colourful or interesting. Plants are sparse due to water restrictions, but a few hardy specimens bloom despite that and provide captures. Take your camera with you to work, play or just out and about. Inanimate objects are abundant in our daily lives and they can make images interesting. Oh, and then there is yourself. Miss a daily image? Capture yourself going about your daily routine :-). Let’s get to it!

She didn’t complete the 365 days (I think), but she still managed to do a massive amount of really interesting pictures! They might give you some ideas.
