Day 96 – Rolling Rock

Ok so maybe it doesn't roll that well

Day 96 of the 365 Before Thirty project – Being the son of a geologist I grew up with rocks. Lots of rocks. I still have  a collection of interesting rocks my father gave me. This is one of them but I must hang my head in shame because I have no idea what it actually is.

Hey, I really love this photo, macro is my favourite and it looks like something from mars. I’m quite jealous that you get to buy new camera equiptment every month, I think I need to do a 365 challenge for an excuse lol. Great work! I also live in Brisbane, are you hating the heat?

great shot. I can relate my dad wasn’t a geologist but rocks are his passion and we still go out rock hounding from time to time. my best guess is it is some sort of geode with crystal inside. will be interesting to see what everyone says about it.

As you can tell by most of the photos so far in the project I’m just a tad addicted to macro photography. Bloody frustrating at times but can make for some fantastic shots.

As for the heat… yeah I’m not designed for hot weather. Anything above 25 and I got to piece pretty quickly. All hail the might airconditioner!

Nice shots of your own by the way – Clearly have a lot more experience than I.

Not sure if it’s a geode but I’m sure dad will correct me soon enough…

Oh thanks you’re too kind, I actually just bought my pretty dslr about 3 months ago and still learning how to use it, I’ll get there one day i’m sure. If you like macro of flowers I can recommend the Roma St Parklands, its pretty much the only park that has any at the moment in Brisbane. I’ve taken a lot of nice macro ones there lately. And there are hundreds of water dragons running around and turtles.

Each time I’ve been to the Parklands with my kit it’s rained. I’ll eventually get to it I’m sure.

If your looking for courses I highly recommend the Photo Continental courses. I did the basic DSLR one earlier this year and got a lot out of it:
